| I figured there is no easier way of explaining just how bad the Red Sox have been s ofar than to let you see it for yourself. Some of these just don't make any sense. I mean come on, stuff like Jon Lester - 0-3, 6.62. Or usual Mister Reliable Jonathan Papelbon with an 8.64 ERA and an unshown 1 for 4 in save chances. Or the ERA of the bottom three at 12.00, 14.54 and 15.63. Or the team ERA of almost 6.00, and adding in the unearned runs, that puts it up to just shy of 7 runs a game allowed. That all makes for the worst pitching in the AL, and the most walks allowed in the league with almost 30 more than the second most. That all to go along with only three full time hitters hitting over .250, and the third worst batting average in the AL. That all explains the 4-11 start, which is tied for the second worst start in franchise history with teams from 1925, 1933 and 1966. The worst is 3-12, done three times in 1927, 1932 and 1996. The worst start in team history (with the current four wins) is 4-16, done in 1932 and 1996. It should not get that bad and this all will undoubtedly improve, but I just had to show it to you because I can't believe it myself. |
