Since you might see this before the boxscore of the game, as I mentioned Jamie Moyer became the oldest pitcher in history to pitch a shutout at 47 years old. He also becomes the 22nd player and 9th pitcher to play in four different decades in modern baseball history (since 1900), and ties for the fifth oldest pitcher in all-time major league history.
The oldest pitchers ever are (final year in parenthesis) - Satchel Paige, 59 (1965), Jack Quinn, 50 (1933), Hoyt Wilhelm, 49 (1972), Phil Niekro, 48 (1987), Nick Altrok, 47 (1924), and Moyer, 47 (2010).
The four decade players are:
1900s-30s
Eddie Collins and Jack Quinn
1920s-50s
Bobo Newsom
1930s-60s
Mickey Vernon, Ted Williams and Early Wynn
1950s-80s
Jim Kaat, Tim McCarver and Willie McCovey
1960s-90s
Bill Bucker, Rick Dempsey, Carlton Fisk, Jerry Reuss and Nolan Ryan
1970s-2000s
Rickey Henderson, Mike Morgan, Jesse Orosco and Tim Raines
1980s-2010s
Jamie Moyer, Ken Griffey Jr. and Omar Visquel
There are also two five decade players - Nick Altrok (1890s-1930s) and Minnie Minoso (1940s-80s). Altrok, who was a pitcher, finished pitching regularly in 1918 but pitched in one game in 1924 and appeared in one game each in 1931 and 1933 as a pinch-hitter being 56 years old in 1933. He isn't listed as that age in the list above because that oldest list is for pitchers.
Minoso actually finished his career in 1964, but appeared in three games in 1976 and two in 1980, both as publicity stunts by the infamous Bill Veeck, which enabled him to go to the five decade list. He was 54 in that game in 1980, becoming the third oldest ever to play in a major league game behind the previously mentioned 56 year old Altrok and the 59 year old Satchel Paige. Minoso also made appearances with an independent team in 1993 and 2003 to technically play a professional game in seven different decades! Minoso was 77 years old in that 2003 game.
The five oldest position players in history to play in a game are (again, final year in parenthesis) - Minnie Minoso, 57 (1980), Jim O'Rourke, 54 (1904), Charley O'Leary, 51 (1934), Julio Franco, 49 (2007), Hughie Jenkins, 49 (1918) and Arlie Latham, 49 (1909).
