April 11, 2010 Red Sox 9, Royals 1

After only scoring 7 runs in the first five games of the season, the Sox more than double that output just today with everybody but Kevin Youkilis getting in on the action. Bill Hall, with a start at shortstop, gets 3 hits while Jacoby Ellsbury and Victor Martinez each rip out two doubles with Ells knocking home 3 teammates on the day. Clay Buchholz more than does his job holding the Royals to a single run and 3 hits in 7 innings. Hideki Okajima nd Daniel Bard each go an inning of scoreless relief to finish up. Royals starter Gil Meche, who no-hit the Sox in SOM play back in 2007, gets knocked out of the game in the 3rd inning and the BoSox never look back.

Left fielder Jacoby Ellsbury hit 2 doubles and had 3 RBI as the Boston Red Sox
defeated the Kansas City Royals by the score of 9 to 1 at Kauffman
Stadium.

Kansas City was unable to claim the lead after Boston went ahead in the 3rd
inning when they tallied 3 runs on 4 hits. The early run support proved
sufficient for Clay Buchholz(1-0) and Boston. That was all the run support
Buchholz required. Overall Boston out-hit Kansas City 13 to 5.

Gil Meche(0-1) suffered the loss. He was not very effective, surrendering 3
runs in 2 and 2/3 innings.
