| Another entertaining game between the Phils and Nats. Carlos Ruiz has one of the best games of his career at the plate, going 4 for 4 at the plate while scoring three times, and Ryan Howard's first homerun of the season prove too much for the Nationals to overcome. Not that they didn't make it interesting after falling behind 5-0 as they closed within a run after Ivan Rodriguez's 3-run blast in the 6th, but the Phils got 3 right back in the bottom of the inning and cruised from there for the series sweep. The Nationals join the Red Sox and Pirates at the second-worst record in the league at 2-7. Only the Seattle Mariners have a worse record at 1-9. A note about the Mariners - they won their first game and haven't won since! The Oakland A's have baseball's best record at 9-2, doing the opposite of Seattle as the A's lost their first game then won 9 straight until a loss today. |
