May 3, 2010 Cardinals 8, Phillies 2

The St. Louis Cardinals, over the last four days, have played he equivalent of six games in the period with three extra inning games (21, 13 and 11 innings) during that time and they looked pretty pooped against a fresh off the disabled list Joe Blanton. Blanton is in control of the tired Cards through the first six, helping with his bat with a 2nd inning RBI single which combines with a Placido Polanco bases loaded walk to give the Phils the 2-0 lead. In the 7th, the Cardinals come alive when Colby Rasmus belts a 2-run homer off of Blanton to tie the game. The Phils fall apart in the 8th as three singles, a walk and two errors let four unearned runs score for St. Louis and spell doom for the Phils as they lose their fourth straight. A nice 3 for 4 day for Carlos Ruiz highlights a losing cause.
