Those 10 runs in an extra inning sets a National League record for most runs in an extra inning but falls two shy of the major league record of 12, which the Texas Rangers did when they scored 12 runs in the top of the 15th inning in a 1983 game against Oakland. |

The Cincinnati Reds deflated Florida with 10 runs in a huge 10th inning and
had very little trouble at Sun Life Stadium downing the Florida Marlins in 10
innings. The score was 15 to 5.
The score was tied at 5 after nine. Finally, Cincinnati pulled the game out in
the 10th inning. The biggest moment was provided by Jay Bruce who deflated
the spirits of the home town crowd when he ripped a one-base hit which was
good for two runs. Cincinnati lit up the scoreboard in the 10th inning which
saw them score 10 runs on 6 hits. Florida was out-hit by Cincinnati, 17 hits
to 10.
Francisco Cordero(1-0) got credit for the victory, pitching 2 innings and
allowing 1 run. The losing pitcher was Clay Hensley(1-1) in relief.
Cincinnati knocked him around a bit, as he gave up 3 runs in 2 innings.
