Right fielder Nate Schierholtz hit 2 doubles at AT&T Park as the San Francisco
Giants beat the Philadelphia Phillies in 10 innings 6 to 5.
The score was knotted at 5 after nine innings. San Francisco won the game in
the 10th inning. Aubrey Huff slapped a base-hit. Matt Downs got his turn
next, but he was a strikeout victim. Schierholtz then lined a single. John
Bowker was up next and he doubled giving San Francisco the victory as 28,253
happy fans celebrated wildly. For the game San Francisco out-hit
Philadelphia 14 to 9.
Jeremy Affeldt(1-0) was the winner allowing no runs in 1 inning. Ryan
Madson(1-1) was tagged with the loss in relief. He allowed 3 hits and no
walks in 1 and 1/3 innings.
