| Boy would I love to face Craig Stammen every game. Both his starts have been against the Phillies, and the Phils have shelled him both times. 5 runs in 2/3 of an inning last time, and 9 runs today with 4 in the first inning on a Shane Victorino leadoff homerun and a Raul Ibanez 3-run shot. Adam Dunn puts the Nats right back in it with a 3-run blast off of Kyle Kendrick in the 4th to tie the game, but the Phils take the lead back and never relinquish it. For the second straight day, the Phillies starter cannot go the required 5 innings for the win and Antonio Bastardo gets the win with 2 1/2 innings of one hit relief. Jose Contreras takes the final two innings for the save. Wild game, with all starting players getting at least a hit, run or RBI except for Willie Harris and Ryan Howard. Even the pitchers got into the action, with Kendrick scoring a run after he reached base on a bunt thrown away for an error by Ivan Rodriguez and Stammen going 2 for 2 with a double and scoring a run. Stammen's bat I think kept him in the game longer than he should have. |
