| For the second consecutive day, it takes extra frames to decide a winner and the third extra-inning games in four days for the Phils. The Phillies can thank Giants stopper Brian Wilson for that. After smoking through the 8th and the first two hitters in the 9th with a one run lead, Wilson just totally loses all control walking four straight Phillies (Utley, Howard, Werth and Ibanez) to force the tying run across the plate. The Phillie relievers hold the Giants scoreless over the final six innings, and the offense gets the winning run across in the top of the 13th on a Placido Polanco single and a Ryan Howard triple. The score could have been higher for the Phillies, but with San Francisco being a very tough place to hiit a homerun (1-3 for lefties, 1-8 for righties) the split card denied Ryan Howard, Chase Utley and Jayson Werth of homeruns during the game. |

The Philadelphia Phillies nipped the San Francisco Giants in 13 innings 4 to 3
at AT&T Park in a hard fought contest.
The score was knotted at 3 after nine innings. Philadelphia won the game in
the 13th inning. After an out was recorded, Placido Polanco drew a walk.
After another out, Ryan Howard came up and he tripled. Both teams totaled 7
hits on the night.
David Herndon(1-0) went 2 innings allowing no runs for the win. Guillermo
Mota(0-1) was hit with the loss in relief. Philadelphia now has a record of
12-8. Bruce Bochy was unhappy with his club's recent performance. 'We can't
keep losing games' he said. 'It gets to be embarrassing after a while.'
