| How about this one for being the luckiest man on the planet? Ramon Ramirez is again in the right spot at the right time and gets a win - without even throwing a pitch! Ramirez comes into the game with two out in the top of the 11th and Luke Scott on first base. Before even throwing a pitch, Ramirez wings a throw to first to catch Scott leaning for the pickoff to end the inning. His teammates go to work in the bottom of the inning, with Jeremy Hermida's legs getting the win. After Jason Varitek struck out for the fourth time today, Bill Hall walks. Hermida hits a sharp grounder to short, out at second, but he beats the relay to first to keep the inning alive. Darnell McDonald (whose nice sac bunt in the 6th eventually led to the tying run scoring) is hit by a pitch to again keep the inning going, and Marco Scutaro hits a single to left with Hermida not slowing at all rounding third and beats the throw to the plate for the winning run! Third straight win for the Sox, their longest winning streak of the year so far. |
