April 16, 2010 Phillies 3, Marlins 1

The Phillies score early again, getting two runs in the bottom of the 1st inning on a Jayson Werth double. That early scoring is all they need. Dan Uggla's solo shot in the 7th puts Florida on the board, and Placido Polanco's RBI single in the bottom of the inning gives the Phils the run back and the final margin of victory. Despite double figures in hits, the Marlins are held to one run by the trio of Roy Halladay, Nelson Figueroa an Ryan Madson. Halladay finally gets that first Phillie win after two subpar starts.

At Citizen's Bank Park, the Philadelphia fans witnessed a great pitcher's
duel. Roy Halladay(1-2) finally bested his Florida opposite, Anibal
Sanchez(0-2), by the score of 3 to 1.

Philadelphia drew first blood jumping out to an early lead in the first inning
with 2 runs using 2 hits. After an out was recorded, Placido Polanco was the
sparkplug when he stroked a base-hit. Chase Utley was next and he drew a
walk. Ryan Howard was next to the plate, but was promptly struck out.
Jayson Werth followed and he doubled. The early run support proved
sufficient for Halladay and Philadelphia. That was all the run support
Halladay required. Although they lost, Florida did out-hit Philadelphia 10
to 5.

Halladay got help from Ryan Madson who earned his 1st save. Sanchez was the
losing pitcher. He allowed 2 runs and 3 hits in 5 innings.
