| Back-to-back homeruns for Adam Lind and Vernon Wells off of Clay Buchholz in the first inning set the tone for the game, as despite the Red Sox outhitting Toronto 6-4 the Jays make better use of their hits. Toronto ups the lead to 4-1, but the Sox mount the comeback in the top of the 9th off of Jays stopper Kevin Gregg with two runs coming home on a double for Adrian Beltre, but that was as close as the Sox could get as Bill Hall strikes out to end the game and the Sox lose by a run and have their 5 game winning streak snapped. And yes, that .000 batting average for Jays second baseman Aaron Hill is correct. Hill so far for the year is mired in an 0 for 25 slump, but does have an RBI at least. |

Shaun Marcum delivered 8 solid innings and designated hitter Adam Lind hit one
over the fence and had 2 RBI at Rogers Centre as the Toronto Blue Jays beat
the Boston Red Sox 4 to 3.
Marcum(2-2) gave Toronto a solid outing. He allowed only 4 hits and no walks
in 8 innings reducing his ERA from 5.81 to 4.72. Boston made it exciting in
the 9th, but they were unable to push the needed runs across.
Marcum was helped out by Kevin Gregg who recorded his 3rd save. Clay
Buchholz(1-1) ended up with the loss. Terry Francona was subdued after the
ballgame, 'That one really hurts. If our guys had simply played more
fundamentally sound, we could have won that one. That is what really ticks
me off!'
