April 18, 2010 Phillies 10, Marlins 4

The Phillies put up double digits on the Marlins with the help of four big hits. Ryan Howard started it with a 2-run homer in the 2nd, pitcher Cole Hamels (the batter before Hamels was intentionally walked, which loaded the bases, to get to Hamels) rips a 2-run double in the 6th, Wilson Alvarez with a beautiful bases clearing pinch-hit triple good for 3 RBI in the 7th, and Jayson Werth adds to the carnage with a 2-run blast of his own in the 8th inning. Hamels just sits back and enjoys all of the run support and cruises to the easy win and the team's 6th win in the last 8 games.

I hope the Phillies enjoyed the hometown crowd, because after an off day a 9 game road trip begins with stops in Atlanta, Arizona and San Francisco. Of the first 21 games, only 6 were at home with the season opening 6 game road trip, a 6 game homestand that just ended and now a 9 game road trip to begin.

The Philadelphia Phillies cruised to a 10 to 4 victory over the Florida
Marlins at Citizen's Bank Park.

Philadelphia jumped out to the early lead in the first inning as they scored 2
runs on 2 base hits. The key at-bat was by Ryan Howard who made the
home-town crowd a happy bunch when he cracked a two-run shot. For the game
Philadelphia out-hit Florida 13 to 9.

Cole Hamels(2-0) allowed 1 run in 7 innings, and picked up the victory. Nate
Robertson(0-3) was the loser. He pitched 5 and 2/3 innings giving up 7 hits
and 4 walks.
