| This game was in three seperate sections. First three innings, all Royals as they shell Tim Wakefield for 7 runs in 2 2/3 innings for a 7-0 lead. Next three innings, the Red Sox wake up and mount the comeback by scoring six runs between the 4th, 5th and 6th inning off of Kyle Davies. The Sox complete the comeback in the 9th when, with two on base and two outs against Royals stopper Joakim Soria, Bill Hall rips one into the outfield seats for the dramatic 3-run walk-off homerun to complete the comeback from the 7-0 defecit and a 9-7 Sox victory. Good news for KC though - Billy Butler gets three hits and extends his hitting streak to 25 games and his average to an impressive .418. FYI, the Royals record is a 30 game hitting streak for George Brett in 1980. A well-deserved play account follows. |

J.D. Drew cracked a homer and had 2 RBI as the Boston Red Sox staged a
dramatic comeback over the Kansas City Royals by a score of 9 to 7 at Fenway
Park.
Boston won the game with a rally in the 9th inning scoring 3 runs on 3 base
hits. Victor Martinez started the inning off right when he banged out a
single. Drew came to the plate and smacked a single. Adrian Beltre got his
turn next, but he was a strikeout victim. Darnell McDonald was a strikeout
victim, unable to help out. Bill Hall came up to bat and lost the ball over
the fence for three runs giving Boston the victory as 36,977 happy fans
celebrated wildly. Boston had a total of 14 hits for the game.
The win was credited to Ramon Ramirez(4-1) who went 2 innings allowing no
runs. The loss was charged to Joakim Soria(0-1) in relief. He gave up 3 runs
and 4 hits in 1 and 2/3 innings.
