May 24, 2010 Red Sox 10, Rays 0

This game had the best of everything for the Sox: pitching, hitting and running. Clay Buchholz continues his recent dominance tossing the one-hitter at the Rays, the only hit was a Reid Brignac single in the 3rd inning, and a tight 2-0 game turns into a laugher as the Sox pour on the offense with eight runs in the final three innings as only Rhode Island native Dan Wheeler could stop the bleeding for Tampa. For Buchholz, only one earned run allowed in his last three starts covering 24 innings total.

As for the running, the Sox get out the legs with a Jacoby Ellsbury steal and a double steal for Dustin Pedroia and Victor Martinez - all in the first inning!! Ellsbury gets two more steals in the game to double his team leading steal total from thre to six in just one game. With Ellsbury on the shelf most of the season so far, speed has not been the Sox's strong suit - coming into today their team total of 14 steals on the season was the second fewest in the majors. With the five stolen bases today, that gives the Sox over one-third of the total steals in the previous 45 games in just one game!
