| The Phillies bat around in the first inning, scoring all four runs they need. The Marlins attempt the comeback by getting three back in the first and second innings, but the pitchers take over after that and nobody scores again. After mentioning in one of the Red Sox blogs about the AL batting race, I never mentioned that Phillies catcher Carlos Ruiz leads the NL batting race at .356, even with an 0 for 4 day today. |

One run was the difference at Sun Life Stadium as the Philadelphia Phillies
defeated the Florida Marlins 4 to 3.
Florida surrendered all of the runs Philadelphia needed in the 1st inning when
they came up with 4 runs on 5 hits. That was all the runs Kyle Kendrick(4-2)
needed. The pitchers took over after the 2nd inning as neither team was able
to score again.
Chad Durbin got the save, his 3rd. Chris Volstad(2-4) was the losing pitcher.
He pitched 6 innings giving up 7 hits and 2 walks.
'I didn't have my best stuff but sometimes you just get lucky,' Kendrick said,
'this was one of those times.'
