June 4, 2010 Padres 6, Phillies 4

Homeruns for both Carlos Ruiz and Shane Victorino in the bottom of the 8th make it interesting, but they can't climb up out of the big hole left by Roy Halladay. Halladay sucks the joint out again, not even getting out of the 4th inning while allowing three homeruns and six runs overall in the loss.

Before today, the Padres were one of three NL teams that the Phillies had not played yet this season (the Dodgers and the Reds are the other two). Cincinnati will be knocked off that list with the first NL series after the interleague play in mid-July, but it will take until August 10th, the 112th game of the year, before the Phillies see the Dodgers the first time.

In a tight game it was the San Diego Padres 6, the Philadelphia Phillies 4 at
Citizen's Bank Park.

In the 2nd inning San Diego went on top for good as they scored 2 runs on 2
base hits. The big moment was provided by Nick Hundley who silenced the
crowd when he lifted one out of the park for a two run home run. San Diego
finished with 12 hits while Philadelphia ended up with 5.

The victory went to Mat Latos(7-2) who went 5 and 2/3 innings, allowing 2
runs. Heath Bell earned the save, his 17th. Roy Halladay(4-5) was the loser.
He served up 3 gopher balls in 4 and 1/3 innings.
