May 27, 2010 Red Sox 8, Royals 4

The so far overachieving Kansas City Royals make a visit to Fenway, and the Sox send the hometown crowd happy. A solo homerun for Jason Varitek in the 3rd is followed by a 3-run shot for Bill Hall in the 5th followed by a 3-run blast for Adrian Beltre in the 6th to ice the cake. The Royals did make it interesting toward the end when they get two runs back in the 8th and load the bases in the 9th off of Manny Declarmen, but Jonathan Papelbon gets his mojo back when he strikes out Jose Guillen with the bases loaded to end the game.

Three of the top four hitters in the American League will play in this series, with Billy Hall (the only over .400 hitter in the majors and currently riding a 25 game hitting streak) at .411 and David DeJesus at .376 with Royals running 1-2 in the race. Adrian Beltre of the Sox sits fourth in batting at .365, with Josh Hamilton of the Rangers sitting third at .371.
