| They were outhit by the Orioles 11-5, but three of the hits for the Red Sox are huge - a 2-run homerun for J. D. Drew, a 2-run triple for Victor Martinez and Jeremy Hermida tosses in a solo homer for the other Sox run. It all gives Clay Buchholz an easy win, not that he needed it. Over the last five starts for Buchholz, including this one, he has been most impressive. One run in 7 innings, one run (unearned) in 8, a shutout, one run in 7 and one run in 6 2/3 today for a 4-0 record and miniscule 0.72 ERA over that stretch. Almost overlooked is the performance of Orioles reliever Jason Berken, as he holds the Sox hitless over the final 3 2/3 innings of the game but gets basically nothing to show for it. |
