| Yes, you read that score correctly. Normally, when you score 11 runs in a game while smoking five homeruns over the fence, you are pretty certain of a win. Not today though, as the Angels score 20 runs by the 5th inning! A 10 run 2nd and a 7 run 5th does most of the damage. This would be the 12th time in the over 100 year history of the Red Sox that they have allowed 20 or more runs in a game, and the 6th time the Angels have scored at least 20 in their almost 50 year history. To add to the embarassment, Adrian Beltre makes three errors in the game with two of those in that 10 run second inning, negating his 3 for 4 game. Brandon Wood smacked a grand slam at Fenway Park as the Los Angeles(AL) Angels
beat the Boston Red Sox 20 to 11.
Wood provided the offensive punch. He emptied the bases with a Grand Slam
homerun in the 3rd inning, ripped a single plating two runs in the 5th inning
and doubled in the 7th inning. Los Angeles(AL) lit up the scoreboard in the
3rd inning which saw them score 10 runs on 8 hits and the 5th inning with 7
runs on 7 hits. Boston scored in 5 different innings, but their shaky
pitching kept them from victory.
Scott Kazmir(3-1) went 5 innings allowing 4 runs for the victory. Matt Palmer
got the save, his 1st. Daisuke Matsuzaka(0-1) was the loser. He got
hammered, allowing 7 hits and 4 walks in 2 and 2/3 innings.
Wood was jubilant after the game 'Let me see a box-score' he joked, 'I want to
see how that game looks on paper.'
