| The bottom of the order comes through big today. A bug 3-run homer for Bill Hall in the 4th inning is upstaged by the dramatics of the bottom of the 9th. The utmost in excitement - two outs, bottom of the 9th, down by two runs with runners on first (JD Drew) and second (Victor Martinez). Brian Fuentes, takes the hill to nail down the win for the Angels, but the Sox have different ideas. Fuentes can't record that final out, as Darnell McDonald (who had pinch-ran for Big Papi in the 8th) gets a base hit to score Martinez and close the gap to a run. Next batter, Adrian Beltre, completes a 4 for 4 day by ripping a double to left with Drew scoring easily to tie the game. McDonald flies around the bases from first, past second, doesn't slow down at all rounding third and beats Bobby Abreu's throw home for the dramatic come from behind victory. |

Third baseman Adrian Beltre had 4 hits and 3 RBI as the Boston Red Sox staged
a dramatic comeback over the Los Angeles(AL) Angels by a score of 8 to 7 at
Fenway Park.
Boston had the game winning rally in the bottom of the 9th inning scoring 3
runs utilizing 3 base hits. After an out was recorded, Victor Martinez began
the Boston spurt when he doubled scoring one more run. Boston had 12 hits
for the game and Los Angeles(AL) had 9.
Hideki Okajima(1-0) got credit for the victory, pitching 2/3 of an inning and
allowing no runs. The loss was charged to Brian Fuentes(0-1) in relief.
'What a game!,' Okajima said afterward. 'When we won it I almost couldn't
believe it!'
