May 15, 2010 Tigers 5, Red Sox 4

Marco Scutaro and Victor Martinez team up to knock home three runners in the 7th inning, but unfortunately for the Sox it wasa bit too late. For the first 5 2/3 innings of the game Jon Lester was smoking along only allowing one hit while striking out eight, but unexplicably collapses with two outs in the 5th unable to record that final out while the Tigers explode for five runs in the inning with the big blast being a 3-run bomb for Magglio Ordonez. That would be the only inning Detroit scored in, but it is enough.

Center fielder Austin Jackson had 2 base hits as the Detroit Tigers bested the
Boston Red Sox 5 to 4 at Comerica Park.

Detroit did all of it's offensive work in the 6th inning scoring 5 runners on
6 hits. The big moment was provided by Miguel Cabrera who excited the crowd
when he rifled a three-run blast. Jose Valverde was perfect in the ninth
giving him his 5th save on the season.

Fu-Te Ni(1-0) got credit for the victory, pitching 1 and 1/3 innings and
allowing 3 runs. Jon Lester(3-5) was the losing pitcher. Despite the loss,
