May 12, 2010 Blue Jays 4, Red Sox 2

The Sox again have a bit of trouble making contact, as Jays starter Shaun Marcum whiffs 10 for his third career double digit strikeout game. A tight 0-0 battle with Tim Wakefield the first four innings goes the Jays way when Lyle Overbay belts his league-leading 12th homerun over the wall in the 5th, and Toronto holds the lead the remainder of the game. The Sox do make some noise in the 9th by scoring a run and getting the winning run to the plate, but Marco Scutaro grounds out to end the game with two runners left on base. Plenty of web gems, as you can see!

Shaun Marcum mowed down 10 Boston batters and Lyle Overbay lofted one into the
'cheap seats' at Fenway Park as the Toronto Blue Jays beat the Boston Red Sox
4 to 2.

Marcum(3-3) put on a good performance. He didn't allow much, just 5 hits and
2 walks in 7 and 2/3 innings. Boston made it exciting in the 9th, but they
were unable to push the needed runs across.

Marcum got help from Kevin Gregg who was credited with his 7th save. Tim
Wakefield(2-3) took the loss. Marcum, when asked about his 10 strikeout
performance noted, 'The important thing is that we won, if I get 20 and we
lose, what good does it do our team? But, on the other hand, since we won it
feels great!'
