| Given some runs to finally work with, Jon Lester's sloppy start nonetheless goes into the win collumn. Lester was basically out of the game already when he got the win. After Arizona had batted in the top of the 6th I had already decided to have a new pitcher for the top of the 7th, and in the bottom of the 6th with a 2-2 tie Bill Hall slams a nice 3-run pinch-hit homerun of of Blaine Boyer to put the Sox over the hump. Boyer gets the loss with five runs allowed on only one hit. How can that happen? Four walks, that's how. The free-swinging Snakes strike out 14 times against the Red Sox pitching. Just to show how much Arizona strikes out compared to everyone else, their team total of 639 is almost 60 more than the second highest, and is over 100 more than the highest total in the AL. |
