June 12, 2010 Red Sox 7, Phillies 2




Two players making their major league debuts today are involved in the scoring for the Sox. Dustin Hermanson throws his first pitch in the major leagues, which is grabbed by Chase Utley and deposited into the outfield seats for a 2-run homerun (the only Phillie runs of the game), while left fielder Daniel Nava scores a run and gets an RBI without benefit of a hit in his debut. A tight 2-2 game was busted open by the Red Sox in the bottom of the 7th when the Phillies pitching just fell apart:

The Boston Red Sox put 5 runs on the scoreboard in the 7th inning and had an
easy time of it at Fenway Park defeating the Philadelphia Phillies by a score
of 7 to 2.

Ramon Ramirez(5-1) came on to close the door tight in relief. He performed
flawlessly in relief in his 2 and 2/3 innings lowering his ERA to 2.93.
Boston out-hit Philadelphia for the game, 9 hits to 5.

David Herndon(2-1) was charged with the loss in relief. He pitched 2 innings
giving up 2 hits and 1 walk.
