Lester was far from sharp today with four walks, two hit batters, a wild pitch, and four runs allowed. His replacement, Daniel Bard, was also about as sharp as a dull pencil allowing three runs, walking two (one intentional) and hitting a batter with the bases loaded, all in not even a full inning. Mitch Talbot allowed Manny Acta to rest his bullpen, tossing a complete game
at Progressive Field as the Cleveland Indians beat the Boston Red Sox by the
count of 7 to 2.
Talbot(6-4) gave Cleveland a solid outing. He was reached for 6 hits and 1
walk in 9 innings improving his ERA from 4.16 to 3.91. Cleveland managed 7
hits in their victory.
The losing pitcher was Jon Lester(4-8). He pitched 6 and 2/3 innings and
