| The Sox have Jonathan Sanchez to thank today. Sanchez had major control problems right off the bat, as after a groundout he walks 5 of the next seven batters in the first inning while the Sox score four runs and bat around. Sanchez settles down after than, and the early support is more than enough for Tim Wakefield and the relief corps to handle with ease. In an entertaining game at AT&T Park the final score was the Boston Red Sox 5,
the San Francisco Giants 2.
Boston promptly took the lead in their half of the first as they scored 4 runs
on 2 base hits. That scoring would be all that was needed. Both teams ended
up with 6 hits on the night.
Tim Wakefield(4-3) allowed 2 runs in 6 innings, and picked up the victory.
Wakefield got help from Jonathan Papelbon who was credited with his 12th
save. Jonathan Sanchez(3-8) took the loss. He allowed Boston 5 runs in 4
innings of work.
With this win, Boston has a 39-36 record. They have been 5-5 lately. San
Francisco has a record of 30-42, worst in the division after the loss.
