| David Ortiz starts things of right with a first inning 3-run homerun, and the Sox add five more for good measure in the 5th in a romp. More than enough for Matsuzaka-san to get win number 7 and a nice 10 strikeouts. Daniel Bard adds four more K for 14 Tampa hitters down by strikeout. |

Daisuke Matsuzaka retired 10 batters on strikeouts and third baseman Adrian
Beltre had 2 base hits and 2 RBI as the Boston Red Sox bested the Tampa Bay
Rays 8 to 3 at Fenway Park.
Matsuzaka(7-2) pitched a solid game. He went 7 innings surrendering 7 hits
and 1 walk. Boston had 10 hits for the night.
Matt Garza(8-4) was the loser. He was knocked around, surrendering 5 runs in
4 innings. Terry Francona was asked about the performance of Matsuzaka, 'He
had his good stuff out there tonight. The fans really get into it when the
strikeouts start mounting up - and that seems to give him even more
adrenalin.'
