June 29, 2010 Reds 5, Phillies 4 (12)

After Johnny Cueto and Mike "Take A" Leake hold the Phillies to only one hit through 15 innings, Ryan Howard chops a 3-0 Reds lead by one with a 7th inning solo homerun. The little man then comes up big for the Phillies, as Dane Sardinha rips his first major league homerun at a good time as a 2-run shot in the top of the 8th off of Francisco Cordero ties the score.

An intentional walk to Raul Ibanez to load the bases backfires on the Reds in the 11th when Juan Castro pokes a base hit to give the Phils the 4-3 lead. That lead is evasporated when Scott Rolen leads off the Reds 11th with a solo homerun off of Brad Lidge as Lidge joins Cordero in the blown save club, and after Cole Hamels pinch-hits for Lidge in the 12th (the bench was empty, and Hamels is batting .286), Danys Baez turns into the goat when Joey Votto goes deep with two out in the 12th for the walk-off homerun for Cincy.

Dane Sardinha joins teammate Shane Victorino as one of the few natives of Hawaii to play in the big leagues. There have been a total of 37 Hawaiian natives in the bigs, but I would doubt any have played together until now.
